Zaire Bichir (Polypterus delhezi)
The Zaire Bichir, also known as the Marbled Bichir, originates from the Congo Basin and is considered one of the most attractive species of its genus. Its grey to olive-green body is adorned with striking dark bands and marbled patterns. Like all bichirs, it is a calm bottom-dweller, mostly active during dusk and night.

Food: Meaty – fish pieces, shrimp, mussel meat, frozen or live food

Behavior: Calm, territorial towards conspecifics, eats smaller fish

Minimum tank length: approx. 150 cm

Aquarium with sand substrate, roots and rock formations for cover

Cover the aquarium well – they are very prone to jumping

Can be well socialized with larger, peaceful fish
