Sphaeramia nematoptera – captive bred
Sphaeramia nematoptera, the Banggai Cardinalfish, impresses with its calm demeanor and distinctive pattern of spots and transverse bands. Its body shape and hovering swimming style give it a particularly elegant, almost meditative aura in the aquarium. As a captive-bred specimen, this fish is significantly more robust, readily accepts food, and is more stress-resistant – acclimation is reliable and without difficulties.
It feels particularly comfortable in smaller groups and then displays its natural social behavior beautifully. In peaceful reef aquariums, it appears harmonious and consistently present.
Advantages of captive breeding:
• Very good acclimation
• Reliably accepts frozen and dry food
• More sustainable alternative to wild-caught specimens
• Calm, peaceful schooling behavior
Care:
• Well-established reef aquarium
• Group keeping (3+ fish) recommended
• Structured reef setup with retreats
• Fits perfectly with peaceful tank mates
A calm, elegant schooling fish with a natural effect – and as a captive-bred specimen, a sustainable, reliable choice for the reef aquarium.
