Tigerfish (Datnioides microlepis)

The Tiger Datz is one of the most impressive freshwater predatory fish from Southeast Asia. With its high-backed body shape and striking, deep black transverse stripes on a silvery-golden background, Datnioides microlepis is an absolute eye-catcher in large aquariums. Its calm yet dominant aura lends a particularly elegant effect to any tank.

This species lives in large rivers and floodplains and prefers spacious aquariums with plenty of free swimming space as well as stable structures made of roots and stones. The Tiger Datz is usually peaceful towards fish of similar size, but will eat anything that fits into its mouth. Dimmed light and a calm environment promote its natural behavior and intense coloration.
