Silver Tigerfish (Datnioides polota)

The Silver Tigerfish is a peaceful to moderately territorial predatory fish from South and Southeast Asia. It stands out with its silvery-golden base color and dark cross bands. Compared to other tigerfish species, it remains somewhat smaller and is more robust against slight brackish water.

Care Instructions:

• Size: Up to approx. 35 cm

• Water parameters: Temperature 24–30 °C, pH 7-8; can be kept in slightly brackish water

• Food: Meaty – fish pieces, shrimp, mussel meat, live or frozen food

• Behavior: Calm but assertive loner; mostly peaceful towards similarly sized species

Notes on Husbandry:

• Minimum tank length: approx. 150 cm

• Aquarium with sand substrate, roots, and hiding places

• Good filtration and regular water changes required

• Do not house with very small fish – they will be considered prey

• Recommended for experienced aquarists
