The Slender Wormfish is found in various African waters, including slow-flowing rivers, overgrown shorelines, and areas with dense structures. As a member of the Mormyridae family, it uses weak electrical impulses for orientation and communication, making it a fascinating but also sensitive aquarium fish. With its slender body shape and calm behavior, it appears both elegant and mysterious.

Care Instructions

Size:
Usually 8–10 cm, up to approx. 15 cm in an aquarium depending on conditions.

Water parameters:

• Temperature: 24–28 °C

• pH value: approx. 6.0–7.5

• Prefers soft to medium-hard water

Food:
The Slender Wormfish is a specialized gourmet and prefers live and frozen food such as mosquito larvae, Artemia, or small invertebrate prey.

Behavior:
A peaceful, rather crepuscular fish. Sensitive to stress and hectic tank mates. It feels most comfortable in small groups, provided there are enough hiding places.

• Aquarium size from 250 liters, the more structured and dimly lit, the better

• Soft substrate, numerous roots, plants, and shady areas for a natural environment

• Very stress-sensitive – calm tank mates and minimal disturbance are crucial
