Red-tailed Wolf Fish (Hydrolycus tatauaia)

The Red-tailed Wolf Fish is a large, predatory freshwater fish from South America. It stands out with its striking red caudal fin and its fast, active predatory behavior. Suitable only for experienced aquarists.

Care Instructions:

• Size: Up to approx. 60 cm

• Water Parameters: Temperature 24–28 °C, pH 6.5–7.5; prefers soft to medium water

• Food: Carnivorous – smaller fish, crustaceans, live or frozen food

• Behavior: Very active, territorial, timid; solitary keeping or large tank for multiple individuals

Keeping Notes:

• Minimum tank length: approx. 250 cm or longer

• Plenty of swimming space and structured hiding places required

• Do not house with small fish – they will be seen as prey

• Only suitable for experienced aquarists

• Already 18-20cm upon delivery
