The tire-track eel is an elongated, robust freshwater fish from South and Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive body shape, striking patterns, and reclusive behavior.

Care information:

• Size: Up to approx. 60 cm, in exceptional cases even larger

• Water parameters: Temperature 24–28 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to medium-hard water

• Food: Carnivorous diet such as worms, small crustaceans, live or frozen food

• Behavior: Bottom dweller, nocturnal; solitary, requires many hiding places

Keeping notes:

• Requires a very spacious aquarium with sand or soft substrate

• Structured retreats such as caves or densely planted areas are necessary

• Only suitable for experienced aquarists due to size, feeding requirements, and territorial behavior
