The Licorice Gourami deissneri (Parosphromenus deissneri) is a rare and fascinating wild-caught species from Sumatra and the Riau Islands. With its deep black fins, streaked with bright blue and red lines, it is one of the most beautiful species of the Parosphromenus genus.

This species prefers soft, humic blackwater and a calm environment. Especially during courtship, the male displays an impressive play of colors. The Deissneri Licorice Gourami is ideally suited for species or biotope aquariums that mimic natural blackwater habitats.
