Cichla monoculus – Large predatory cichlid from South America
The Cichla monoculus is an impressive predatory cichlid from the clear rivers of the Amazon basin. Known for its distinctive eye spots and elegant, elongated body shape, it is an absolute eye-catcher in large aquariums. Adult specimens in particular display a strong play of colors with yellowish and olive-green tones, which are intensely showcased depending on the light incidence.
This species is active, territorial, and requires ample space. Due to its predatory nature and size, Cichla monoculus is primarily suitable for experienced aquarists and species-only tanks.
