Meiacanthus mossambicus impresses with a soft, grey-white colouration and a calm, elegant swimming style. It exhibits curious but not hectic behaviour and is usually clearly visible in the tank. As a captive-bred specimen, this blenny is particularly robust, readily eats various foods, and is more stress-resistant, which greatly facilitates acclimatisation and makes it a reliable reef inhabitant.
It fits ideally into peaceful reef communities and harmonises well with other calm species.
Advantages of captive breeding:
• Very good acclimatisation
• Reliably eats frozen and dry food
• More sustainable alternative to wild-caught specimens
• Calm, compatible social behaviour
Husbandry:
• Well-established reef aquarium
• Structured setup with small hiding places
• Most beautiful in pair or small group keeping
• Peaceful tank mates recommended
A pleasantly calm, unobtrusive reef inhabitant – and as a captive-bred specimen, a safe and sustainable choice.
