The L030 Peppermint Pleco (Spectracanthicus punctatissimus) is a beautiful, rare wild-caught specimen from the Rio Tapajós in Brazil. It captivates with its deep black base color, covered in numerous, evenly distributed white spots – a contrast reminiscent of fresh peppermint, giving it its name.

The L030 is a peaceful, rather calm L-catfish that mostly stays in caves and shaded areas. It remains medium-sized with a final length of around 12–14 cm and is excellent for community aquariums with calm, non-aggressive tankmates.

The Spectracanthicus punctatissimus (L030) is a predominantly carnivorous L-catfish. It prefers frozen and live food such as Artemia, Cyclops, Mysis, and mussel meat. Additionally, it accepts food tabs, granules, and occasionally vegetable food (spirulina, vegetable chips).

Good oxygen supply and clean water are essential for the Peppermint Pleco. On dark substrate and with subdued lighting, its white spots glow particularly intensely.
