Indonesian Mottled Eel Catfish (Chaca bankanensis)

The Chaca bankanensis – also known as the Frogmouth Catfish – is an extremely unusual and fascinating bottom-dweller from Southeast Asia. With its flat body, wide mouth, and perfect camouflage, it is one of the most exciting ambush predators in freshwater environments. This rare species is particularly suitable for species-specific aquariums and enthusiasts of unusual predators.

Chaca bankanensis spends a lot of time motionless on the bottom, waiting for prey. With sufficient hiding places, subdued lighting, and soft substrate, it displays its natural behavior particularly impressively.
