Hujeta Pike Characin (Ctenolucius hujeta)

The Hujeta Pike Characin is an impressive, elongated predator from South America that is primarily active in the upper water layer. With its silvery, shimmering body, large eyes, and arrow-like shape, it visually resembles a small freshwater pike. Despite its predatory nature, it usually remains calm and controlled towards fish of similar size.

Ctenolucius hujeta prefers well-structured aquariums with plenty of swimming space at the surface. A secure cover is important as this species is an excellent jumper. As an active open-water fish, it is ideally kept in groups of three or more, which promotes more natural behavior.
