The Cerithium caeruleum is a robust and useful snail for the saltwater aquarium. With its slender, needle-like shell structure and often bluish to grey shimmering coloration, it is not only subtly elegant but also a valuable helper in the substrate.

Origin:
Indo-Pacific, including Red Sea, Indonesia, Philippines

Temperature range:
24–28 °C (tropical saltwater aquarium)

Care:
This snail is an excellent sand and detritus scavenger. It continuously sifts through the substrate in search of food remnants, algae, and organic material, thus contributing to the natural cleaning of the aquarium. Especially in sand zones, it exhibits very active burrowing and foraging behavior.

Note:
Very peaceful and can be well cohabited with other invertebrates and reef inhabitants. A stable, well-established sand zone is recommended for long-term successful keeping.
