Blyth's Archerfish (Toxotes blythii)

The Toxotes blythii is one of the rarest and most impressive archerfish species. With its silvery-grey body, distinctive dark side spots, and unique hunting behavior, it is an absolute eye-catcher. This species is known for "shooting down" insects above the water surface with targeted jets of water – a spectacular behavior that can be observed in suitable aquariums.

Unlike many other archerfish, Toxotes blythii primarily lives in freshwater but also tolerates slight brackish water. It requires plenty of swimming space, peaceful cohabitation, and a structured tank with roots and plants.
