In its blue and yellow phase, the ribbon eel displays perhaps its most impressive coloration: a strong royal blue with vibrant yellow accents that immediately highlights it within the reef structure. Its elegant, snake-like swimming and calm leaning out of caves and tubes make it a fascinating eye-catcher in the aquarium.
For successful keeping, it requires many long hiding structures in which it can fully stretch out and retreat. With calm tank mates and regular feeding with fine frozen food, its natural behavior can be observed beautifully.
Care & Keeping:
• Well-established, calm reef or fish aquarium
• Many tubes, caves, and shaded areas
• Peaceful, not hectic tank mates
• Food: fine frozen food (e.g., Mysis, finely chopped shrimp)
• Patience with food acceptance pays off
Size:
• Juveniles usually approx. 25–45 cm
• Adult up to 80–100 cm, very slender and elegant
An expressive, strikingly colored moray eel that lends the tank a special, almost tranquil tension – for aquarists looking for something truly distinctive.
