Australian Arowana (Scleropages jardini) – majestic surface predator with intense markings

The Australian Arowana is an impressive freshwater predatory fish from Northern Australia and is one of the most attractive representatives of the bony-tongued fish. Scleropages jardini impresses with its strong physique, distinctive metallic reflections in gold and bronze tones, and characteristic large scales. In large aquariums, it looks extremely elegant and immediately attracts all eyes with its calm, confident swimming style.

This species requires a lot of swimming space, excellent water quality, and a well-covered aquarium, as it is prone to jumping. Due to its final size and pronounced predatory behavior, Scleropages jardini is only suitable for experienced aquarists with sufficient space.
