Tectus fenestratus (Windowpane Turban Snail)
- Scientific Name: Tectus fenestratus
- Origin: Indo-Pacific region (primarily from the waters of the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean)
- Color: Dark brown to greenish with characteristic white, reticulated patterns on the shell
- Size: Can reach up to 6 cm in diameter
- Light Requirements: Prefers moderate light, but can also thrive in less illuminated areas
- Water Movement: Moderate to strong water flow
- Temperature Range: 24–28°C
- pH Value: 8.1–8.4
- Salinity: 1.023–1.025 SG
- Diet: Herbivore, feeding mainly on algae, especially red algae and diatoms
- Care: Relatively easy to care for, ideal for aquariums for algae control. It requires stable water conditions and a sufficient supply of algae
- Reproduction: Like many snail species, Tectus fenestratus reproduces by laying eggs, but larval development is difficult in most aquariums
- Special Features: The Tectus fenestratus is an excellent algae eater, responsible for controlling algae in aquariums. Its shell has a distinctive, reticulated pattern that easily distinguishes it from other snail species. A special ability of this snail is its resilience to many environmental conditions, which is why it can thrive even in less stable aquariums.
