Acanthurus tennentii – Doubleband Surgeonfish

The Acanthurus tennentii is an impressive surgeonfish from the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific. Its grayish-green to olive-colored base coloration is complemented by fine patterns and characteristic orange markings around the caudal peduncle. With its considerable size and active swimming behavior, it is an attractive inhabitant for large marine aquariums.

Tennent's Surgeonfish requires ample swimming space, excellent water quality, and a varied diet with a high proportion of plant matter. It can occasionally be territorial towards other surgeonfish, but is usually well-tolerated in sufficiently large aquariums. Thanks to its elegant appearance and natural algal grazing behavior, it is a valuable addition to generously designed reef aquariums.
