Mimic Surgeonfish

The Acanthurus pyroferus is a fascinating surgeonfish, particularly known for its exceptional mimicry. Juveniles often mimic the appearance of dwarf angelfish to protect themselves from predators. As it matures, it develops its typical coloration and becomes an active, attractive inhabitant of a saltwater aquarium.

The Mimicry Surgeonfish requires plenty of swimming space, a varied diet, and stable water parameters. Its interesting development from a deceptively similar dwarf angelfish mimic to a mature surgeonfish makes it a particularly exciting inhabitant for larger reef aquariums.
