Acanthurus japonicus – Japan Surgeonfish

The Acanthurus japonicus is a particularly attractive surgeonfish with striking white coloration on its face, a deep black body, and bright yellow accents on its dorsal fin and caudal peduncle. Its elegant appearance and active swimming behavior make it a popular inhabitant for larger marine aquariums.

The white-faced surgeonfish requires plenty of swimming space, an oxygen-rich environment, and a varied, predominantly plant-based diet. It should only be introduced to well-established and stable marine aquariums, as it can be sensitive to stress and fluctuating water parameters. An impressive reef inhabitant for experienced marine aquarists.
