Acanthurus bariene – Blackspot Surgeonfish

The Acanthurus bariene is an impressive surgeonfish from the coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific. Its silvery-grey base coloration is complemented by fine line patterns and the characteristic dark spot in the posterior body area. Due to its stately size and elegant swimming behavior, it is considered one of the particularly attractive species for very large saltwater aquariums.

Due to its maximum size, the blackspot surgeonfish requires a lot of swimming space and stable water parameters. A varied, predominantly vegetable diet supports its health and color development. In sufficiently large aquariums, it shows active but mostly peaceful behavior and can be well socialized with other robust reef inhabitants. Due to its size, this species is particularly suitable for experienced marine aquarists with appropriately sized systems.
